Are Commercial Paper Towel Dispensers Environmentally Safe?

Many establishments have switched from commercial paper towel dispensers and are now using blow dryers for their customers because they think it is going to save them money. The fact is that it takes more electricity to heat air which can lead to huge bills. Another fact remains that paper towels dry hands more efficiently than air does and it does it with less money wasted too.

There is an ecological debate over which is cheaper and better for the environment. This debate concerns commercial paper towel dispensers and hand blow dryers. There are the proponents that air dryers are more eco friendly as they do not require any paper and run solely on electricity.

While this can be halfway true, it is not the whole story. An air hand blow dryer runs on electricity which needs a source to run. Most forms of electricity are not considered eco friendly. Unless the establishment is running their hand dryers on solar or wind powered electricity, then there is no eco friendliness at all.

One of the nice things about commercial paper towel dispensers is that most of the paper that is offered for these dispensers is recycled paper. In actuality, it is better for the environment than wasting electricity on blowers that take longer to dry hands. At the end of the day, neither are the greatest, but lesser of two evils truly is the paper towels.

When it comes to eco friendly commercial ways to dry people’s hands after using the rest room, paper wins hands down because they are made from recycled paper and do not use electricity. Those who have blow dryers should think about switching to paper. Commercial paper towel dispensers are also cost less to purchase than a blow dryer making them even more cost effective.
